"Re-Think Tie Dye"
ELLE UK
DYEING
My choice of tools is unconventional and often unexpected: from stealing my toddler’s Lego Duplo blocks to appropriating everyday household objects. The things I choose are an essential part of my visual language.
Textiles speak to me and, once finished, I invite the viewer to linger, meet their gaze and discover their story. Through my self-developed techniques, new imagery emerges from the interplay of control, chance and the fabric's properties.
Whilst keeping print and dye distinct, I draw on techniques from both disciplines.

Pebelle was born as I studied textile arts but quickly evolved into a fashion and costume design project. Along the way I had the honour of many features in magazines such as Elle or Vouge UK and being included in Paz Diman's Los 100 mejores diseñadores de moda contemporáneos.
With the rise of fast fashion, an industry that places an enormous burden on our environment I gradually realized, that I no longer wanted to be a part of the problem. For some time now my artistic work has centred on expression with through the transformation of already existing materials.
For ONGOING I follow one rule: Do not buy new, do not make new. I open up my stock and archive, reworking what is already there. Unfold, deconstruct, piece together.
My approach values materials, honours the hands that originally created them and gives existing pieces a new life as art objects.

ONGOING marks a new chapter in my artistic practice, bringing together a lifetime of creative experience and a growing commitment to my own artistic calling. This is why I have chosen to exhibit under my own name, moving away from the project I created as Pebelle.
